NY Man Choked Girlfriend, Beat Man With Metal Trophy: Police

A Long Island man was arrested after he choked his girlfriend and then beat a man with a metal trophy, police said.

Ariel Garcia, 23, got into a fight with his girlfriend at his home in New Cassel early Monday morning. The fight escalated and Garcia allegedly choked his girlfriend and prevented her from calling police.

Police say Garcia then took a metal trophy and left the home in a taxi, all while threatening to kill a man he claimed was ruining his relationship.

Once at the 31-year-old man’s Hicksville home, Garcia struck him numerous times in the head with the metal trophy, according to police.

The man suffered a fractured skull and was taken to an area hospital. His condition wasn’t immediately known.

Garcia, who left the man’s home after the alleged attack, eventually surrendered himself to police.

He faces a number of charges, including attempted murder, assault and unlawful imprisonment.
