NY Man, An Original Tuskegee Airman, Heads to DC

Civil-rights icon takes youngest son to historic inauguration

President-elect Barack Obama isn't the only one who took a train to the nation's capital this weekend.

Civil-rights icon and one of the original Tuskegee Airman Lee Archer also will be among the millions gathered in Washington for Tuesday's  inauguration.

Archer, of New Rochelle, N.Y., said he's honored to be alive to witness Obama's historic swearing-in ceremony.

When Archer signed up for the military in 1941, he was turned away because of the color of his skin.

Now, nearly 70 years later, his biggest decision was trying to figure out which of his four children to take with him with only one extra ticket.

His youngest son was the lucky winner.
