Long Island Race Still Undecided 2 Weeks After Election Day

More than two weeks after Election Day, the race for Oyster Bay town supervisor remains unresolved.

Nassau County Board of Elections officials are nearing the end of a vote recount. According to Democratic candidate John Mangelli, he now trails the nine term incumbent, Republican John Venditto by 96 votes.

However, Mangelli says some 450 absentee ballots are being contested. It now appears the race will be decided in court next week.

More than 46,000 votes were cast in the race and Mangelli held a 68 vote lead when the polls closed.

Venditto surged into the lead when officials began counting more than 1,700 absentee ballots.
