Police on Long Island say increased efforts to fight an opioid crisis have resulted in more than 150 arrests and the seizure of more than $1 million this year.

Newsday reports Suffolk police also announced Thursday they've doubled the number of executed drug search warrants in 2016 compared to the same period last year.

Police Commissioner Timothy Sini says police are pursuing all area drug dealers, "big and small."

Sini says a new drug tip line is responsible for the jump in drug seizures, arrests and warrant executions.

The tip line launched on March 31. Officials say police have received more than 280 calls about drug sales, dealers and other information on trafficking.

Newsday says more than 440 people died from opiate overdoses on Long Island in 2015.
