Fire Closes Track at Metro-North's Valhalla Station, Delays Reported on Harlem, Wassaic lines

A smoldering track fire at Valhalla station caused delays on Metro-North's Harlem and Wassaic lines on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was put out shortly after 4 p.m. and no injuries were reported. It's unclear what sparked the fire; it appeared to be a brush or debris fire.

One track was closed because of third rail damage, and Metro-North said there were 20-minute delays on the Harlem and Wassaic lines between Valhalla and Hawthorne.

A northbound train was stopped just short of the station, and people on social media were complaining that they were stuck at stations just south of Valhalla, including at North White Plains.
