Firefighters saved dozens of animals from breathing in potentially toxic air at a Long Island pet store.

Fire crews were called to the Petco on Route 25A in Rocky Point just after midnight on Tuesday after elevated levels of carbon monoxide were detected there.

Dozens of animals were removed from the store as the building was ventilated and the carbon monoxide detector was reset.

Video from the scene shows ferrets and other critters squirming in their cages as they hang out on a sidewalk outside the store.

Officials said none of the rescuers were injured. Details about the conditions of the animals have not been released.
