A state oversight agency has found that a former medical vendor for the Nassau County jail failed to provide adequate treatment, directly resulting in the deaths of three inmates last year.
The state Commission of Correction's findings come as the county and the vendor fight lawsuits related to other Nassau inmate deaths, Newsday reports.
Florida-based Armor Correctional Health Services insists that its staff did not contribute to the 2016 deaths of inmates William Satchell, Emanuel McElveen and Michael Cullum.
In October, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman settled a lawsuit that accused the vendor of repeatedly denying inmates adequate medical care. Armor did not admit any wrongdoing or liability but was fined $350,000.
