New Jersey Transit will pay $10 million to a woman who was run over by a bus two years ago and had both her legs amputated.
Claire Dertouzos was struck in May 2016 as she was attempting to cross Mount Prospect Avenue at Heller Parkway in Newark.
NJ.com reports that the bus driver, who was making a left turn, said he didn't see the woman before the vehicle's rear wheels ran over her legs as she was in the crosswalk.
Dertouzos' legs were severely injured and had to be amputated above the knee. She now uses a wheelchair.
An attorney for the 65-year-old woman confirmed she settled her lawsuit earlier this month. But further details were not disclosed.
NJ Transit declined to comment on the settlement.
