NJ Transit to Provide Additional Morning Buses to Morris & Essex Riders

NJ Transit says it will add bus service to the busiest stations along the Morris & Essex train line during the Penn Station overhaul project this summer.

Beginning July 10, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., buses  will operate every half hour from Summit and Maplewood train stations to the Port Authority bus terminal. Customers will be able to use discounted rail tickets and passes with Hoboken destinations on those buses.

The service is being offered only in the morning to New York. Customers returning from New York in the evening will still need to get to Hoboken by PATH or NY Waterway ferry to take the westbound Morris & Essex trains, or board regularly scheduled buses at Port Authority bus terminal.

NJ Transit previously announced that additional busing will be provided from South Orange and Newark Broad Street station to the Port Authority bus terminal, again also only in the morning.

There will also be additional capacity as demand warrants on the NJ Transit no. 126 bus from Hoboken to Port Authority, the no. 108 bus from Newark Penn Station to Port Authority and no. 107 bus from South Orange to Port Authority.
