Apparent Bathroom Leak Floods NJ Transit Car With Toilet Water, Riders Say

NJ Transit said the information was forwarded to the appropriate personnel

Commuters on a New Jersey Transit train Tuesday morning shared images of the train’s carriage flooded with toilet water.

Some NJ Transit riders already beleaguered by weeks of delays in and out of New York due to ongoing Amtrak track work had their spirits dampened yet again Tuesday morning -- but this time, toilet water was apparently to blame.

A leaky toilet aboard an NJ Transit rush hour train out of Red Bank apparently caused water to flow down the lower aisle of one of the double-decker train cars, grossing out commuters.

Video posted to social media show the water running down the aisle of the train; enough pools on the floor that passengers and seats on one side of the car are reflected. It appeared to be seeping from a bathroom on the main level of the train between the two decks, flowing down the stairs and into the aisle.

NJ Transit said its social media staff had seen the photos and the information was forwarded to the appropriate personnel.

"We are looking into it," the statement said.
