NJ Police Chopper Helps Nail Fleeing Motorcyclist: Cops

A police helicopter is credited with enabling officers to capture a motorcycle rider who led them on a high-speed chase into a New Jersey park.

Newark police attempted to stop the motorcyclist who they say was recklessly riding an illegal off=road motorcycle Saturday near Weequahic Park, officials said.

The rider led the officers on a high-speed chase to elude capture. The officers lost sight of him as left the road and veered into an area where he was hidden by bushes and trees.

However, the department's helicopter spotted the motorcycle and directed officers to the rider, who was identified as 31-year-old Tyrone Williams, a Newark resident.

Williams was issued 10 tickets for traffic violations and was arrested on outstanding warrants, police said.

There was no information available on whether Williams had obtained a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
