A man who allegedly ran away laughing after a taxi driver was fatally shot during a robbery is now headed to prison.

Sheedley Pierre received a 47-year sentence Tuesday. The Orange man was convicted last month of felony murder, robbery and numerous other counts in the November 2016 killing of 55-year-old Jonas Larose.

Prosecutors say Pierre and a 14-year-old boy pulled a gun on Larose and tried to rob him.

The shooting occurred moments later, and the pair fled without getting any money.
