NJ Man Charged in Hit-and-Run Boating Accident: Police

Authorities have charged the person they say was piloting a vessel that collided with a pontoon boat on a northwestern New Jersey lake and then fled the scene, leaving two people in the pontoon boat injured.

State police say 23-year-old Alex Majors, of Sparta, was charged with endangering an injured victim, leaving the scene of a vessel accident with serious bodily injury and assault by vessel.

A telephone number for Majors could not be located Monday. It wasn't known if he's retained an attorney.

NJ.com reports that the five people aboard the pontoon boat were all knocked into the water when the collision occurred around 12:50 a.m. Sunday on Lake Mohawk in Sussex County. Two of them suffered concussions, while the other three had less serious injuries.
