NJ Introduces 10 Internet Safety Bills

Protecting children and teenagers from Web-trolling predators is the focus of 10 Internet safety bills introduced in the New Jersey Assembly.

The measures upgrade sex crimes against children, enhance penalties for harassing minors online, and allow wiretapping to investigate suspicions of some crimes against children.

The bills are part of Attorney General Anne Milgram's Internet safety initiative.

The sponsor, Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein, D-Hamilton, represents the district where 7-year-old Megan Kanka was raped and murdered by a convicted pedophile, sparking sexual predator notification laws known as Megan's Law.

The bills will be debated in the Assembly Judiciary Committee Thursday.
