House Fire Kills 90-Year-Old Man in NJ: Authorities

Authorities say a house fire has left a man dead in northern New Jersey.

A spokesman for the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office says police were dispatched to the Bridgewater home around 6:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of heavy smoke.

Authorities say firefighters found a 90-year-old man dead inside who lived in the home.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in under an hour. The fire significantly damaged the first and second floors of the home.

The identity of the man found inside the home is being withheld pending an autopsy. Officials say he died from smoke inhalation.

No one else was inside at the time and no other injuries have been reported.

Officials say the fire doesn't appear to be suspicious.
