Home Surveillance Video Captures Armed Burglar Ransacking NJ Home

A surveillance camera captured video of an armed burglar rummaging through a New Jersey home this week.

The homeowner said that he left his Franklin Township house just before 2 p.m. Monday with the back door unlocked. When he returned to the house at 3:30 p.m. he found the door leading to his basement was damaged and his bedroom was ransacked.

A surveillance camera in the bedroom recorded video of a burglar in his 20s or 30s picking up a silver handgun on the bed while he went through the home looking for valuables. Video from a camera in the living room shows the man with the backpack he used to store his loot.

In all, the burglar took jewelry and sunglasses worth $1,700 from the home.

The suspect in the video has a large tattoo with writing on the right side of his neck. He also has tattoos on both of his arms between his wrist and elbows, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Franklin Township Police Department at 732-873-5533.
