New Jersey officials have temporarily suspended the certification of a home health aide accused of recklessly causing the death of an 85-year-old woman in her care at a nursing home.
The action by the state nursing board against Monique Beaucejour was announced Thursday.
The 46-year-old Bloomfield woman has agreed to the suspension. She has pleaded not guilty to reckless manslaughter and other counts.
Beaucejour was working at the nursing home in Cedar Grove last month when she allegedly left the woman — who required total assistance with care — sitting alone on a bed. The woman fell and suffered serious head injuries.
Authorities say Beaucejour put her back in bed and left. They say she later returned and summoned help for the woman, pretending to have just discovered her lying injured in bed.
The woman died later that day.
