NJ Driver Misses Deer, Hits House

A teenage driver swerved to avoid two deer and slammed his car into a house in New Jersey, forcing the residents to find a temporary place to live while repairs are made, police said Saturday.

The 17-year-old driver, whose identity wasn't released by police, spotted two deer crossing Lawrence Drive in Hackettstown at about 9:30 p.m. Friday and veered to avoid them. However, his BMW then crashed into a nearby house.

When the car broke through a wall, it launched a desktop computer that narrowly missed a resident who was sitting in the room, Hackettstown police said.

County officials determined that the house was uninhabitable because of the structural damage.

No one was injured, police said.
