Authorities Probe Whether 2 NJ Stabbings Are Linked

Authorities are trying to determine whether two stabbings in a northern New Jersey community are linked.

Passaic police say both stabbings occurred late Sunday night on Third Street.

A 16-year-old Garfield boy suffered three stab wounds to his upper body in one attack, while a 55-year-old city man was stabbed in his left forearm in the other.

The teen told police that a man approached him and stabbed him "for no reason." The other victim told officers that two men started following him on a street and repeatedly attacked him with an unknown object they pulled out of some garbage.

Both victims are expected to fully recover.

Authorities say the stabbings may be related since they occurred around the same time in the same area.
