Museum of Modern Art Announces New Associated Film Curator

The Museum of Modern Art is announcing a new associate curator for its film department.

MoMA said Friday that La Frances Hui will start her new job at the museum on Oct. 13.

Hui joins MoMA after 15 years as film curator at the Asia Society in New York.

She curated film series at the Asia Society covering a wide spectrum of Chinese cinema including silent classics, propaganda films and contemporary mainstream cinema.

She also organized series featuring the films of Japan, Thailand, South Korea and Iran.

Hui will report to Rajendra Roy, MoMA's Celeste Bartos chief curator of film.

Roy said the museum will benefit from Hui's "rich knowledge of Asian cinema" and her experience in program development.
