Ruth Madoff: Hands off My Assets

Ruth Madoff says some of her assets should not be subject to court freezes.

The wife of Ponzi thief Bernard Madoff claims "certain assets (are) free and clear of any wrongdoing," according to court papers cited in Tuesday's Post.

Ruth says she's entitled to the couple's $7 million uptown penthouse and more than $60 million in cash and bonds, claiming she inherited much of that money from her investor father, the Post reported.

A home in France and another in Long Island, as well as three automobiles and a yacht, also are included in the list of Madoff assets.

Attorneys for the couple "have been advised, however, that the United States attorney and SEC may not have the same view" about leaving the assets available to Mrs. Madoff, according to the Post.

Bernard Madoff is in jail awaiting sentencing for his record $65 billion Ponzi scam. He pleaded guilty on March 12 and was ordered directly to jail.
