Driver on Drugs Struck, Killed Motorcyclist on Long Island: Cops

The motorcyclist, Christopher White, 44, of Medford, was pronounced dead after being taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore

A man was allegedly high on drugs when he struck and killed a motorcyclist on Long Island Saturday morning, police said.

Police arrested Paul Porrini, 55, and charged him with driving while ability impaired by drugs after he allegedly passed through a red light, striking and killing the motorcyclist and also hitting three other vehicles.  

Authorities said the motorcyclist, Christopher White, 44, of Medford, was pronounced dead after being taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.

Four people who were in the other cars were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicles collided at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Johnson Avenue by the entrance to MacArthur Airport at around 7:15 a.m.

Information on a lawyer for Porrini was not immediately available.
