Queens Mother Charged With Smothering 11-Month-Old Son, Allegedly Said, “I Didn't Want Him Anymore”

A 22-year-old Queens woman is accused of covering her baby boy's face with a bed sheet and watching him struggle to breathe before leaving him to die alone, prosecutors say.

Nicole Kelly was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly killing her 11-month-old son in their Elmhurst apartment over the holiday weekend.

Prosecutors say Kelly allegedly smothered the boy, Kiam Felix Jr., then left him alone for half an hour and returned to find him blue and responsive. Several hours later, someone took the baby to the hospital.

Kelly allegedly told investigators she killed the child because she reached her breaking point.

"I didn't want him anymore," prosecutors say she told police.

Kelly has been hospitalized for evaluation and is awaiting arraignment.

If convicted of second-degree murder, she faces 25 years to life in prison.

Information on an attorney for her wasn't immediately available.
