Random Shootout During Packed Service Leaves New Jersey Mosque Riddled With Bullets

The congregation was already mourning the death of an 18-year-old mosque member killed last week

A mosque was left riddled with bullets during a packed midnight prayer service after a shootout in New Jersey's second largest city.

Police in Jersey City say four men fired at a man who ran through the Muslim Federation of New Jersey Mosque during Ramadan prayers.

The man was not connected to the mosque, and no injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made.

The largely Bangladeshi congregation was in mourning after an 18-year-old mosque member was fatally shot Friday while running after a man who had snatched his brother's cellphone.

The mosque is located on the cusp of the city's downtown, across the street from both a housing project and a luxury condo building.
