Father of Missing Central New York Girl Taken Into Custody; No Word on Child

Authorities in Syracuse say a man fitting the description of the father of a missing 21-month-old girl has been taken into custody but there's no word from officials on whether the child has been found.

Onondaga County Sheriff Eugene Conway says a man matching the description of 24-year-old Ryan Lawrence was taken into custody Monday in the village of Baldwinsville, 10 miles northwest of Syracuse.

Lawrence was handed over to Syracuse police, who haven't released any information on the search for Lawrence's daughter, Maddox. Police say a news conference originally scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday has been delayed. No new time has been set.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Maddox early Sunday after Lawrence disappeared with the girl Saturday night. The alert said Lawrence left a message saying he was going to harm himself and possibly the child.
