Missing Diver's Body Pulled from Water in Queens

The 29-year-old man was reporting missing Friday after he went into the water and didn't return

The body of a diver who went missing while snorkeling in the waters off Rockaway Point Boulevard in Queens last week has been recovered, police said.

Harbor patrol pulled the body of Yevgeniy Glebov, 29, of Staten Island, from the ocean Tuesday afternoon. He had been missing since Friday, when a 911 caller told police a man in scuba gear had gone into the water near Breezy Point Surf Club and never returned.

Helicopters, boats and scuba divers scoured more than 2,000 square miles of water for more than 60 hours after Glebov was reported missing to no avail.

Fishermen in the area described him as a "very nice guy" who had recently gotten married.

"He used to spear the fish and give us some of the fish when he came in," said Ronald Burke, from Mill Basin, Brooklyn, who used to give him rides down to the shore to fish.

A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
