A minivan struck and killed a man who was changing his tire on the Van Wyck Expressway near John F. Kennedy airport on Sunday, police said.
There were three people in the minivan and one person in the victim's car when the collision happened around 4 a.m., authorities said. No one in either of the vehicles was badly hurt.
The accident snarled traffic in the area, and drivers were unable to access the airport from the expressway until it reopened seven hours later.
