NYC-Based Bus Company Ordered Shut Down by Feds

A New York City-based interstate bus company has been ordered to shut down immediately after federal investigators concluded it was a danger to public safety.

The Department of Transportation said Friday the Ming An Inc. bus company failed to follow federal safety regulations.

The DOT says the bus company didn't administer pre-employment drug and alcohol tests and let drivers keep working after getting speeding tickets. Investigators also found Ming An drivers didn't maintain log books and failed to conduct safety inspections.

A phone number listed on the company's website rang unanswered. It runs buses between New York and cities as far away as Tampa, Fla.

Earlier this month, the DOT revoked the Fung Wah discount bus service's license. Fung Wah ran buses between Boston and New York.
