Men Bail on Breakfast Bill, Beat Up Diner Owner, Wife Who Try to Stop Them: Cops

A 67-year-old employee dislocated her shoulder and broke her arm in the attack and a 70-year-old employee was punched in the face

Authorities are looking for two men who skipped out on a breakfast bill at a Queens diner earlier this month, then beat up the 70-year-old owner and his 67-year-old wife when the couple tried to stop them from running off.

Authorities say the suspects ate at the Good Fellas Diner of movie fame on Maspeth Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. Oct. 1 and refused to pay their bill. When owner Mike Diamantis tried to stop them from leaving, one of the suspects punched him in the face, leaving him with a bruised chin, according to police.

The second suspect went to a car in the parking lot and Diamantis' wife Denise, better known to customers as Toula, tried to scribble down the license plate, but the suspect who was still in the diner snatched the writing pad from her hand and threw her down the front steps, dislocating her shoulder and breaking her arm.

Mariano Uerna, a cook at the diner, was shocked.

"I see the guy when they grab the lady from the outside and they dragged all the way down ... I said, 'Oh my god,'" Uerna said.

The two suspects then drove off. Denise Diamantis was treated at a hospital, where she needed 12 screws and plates in her arm.

"The whole arm was hanging from here ... and then it was broken," Denise Diamantis said. "Would you do something like this to your mother and sister?"

Her husband said he hoped to see the suspects in court.

Police released a surveillance image of the suspects (above). Anyone with information about them is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
