A double-decker bus with 66 passengers on board hit an overpass in Manhattan on Tuesday, snarling morning traffic near the Lincoln Tunnel.
The bus, which had left Pittsburgh Monday night, struck the overpass on the 40th Street ramp of the inbound tunnel at about 7:45 a.m., causing inbound delays of up to 45 minutes.
Port Authority said the driver was issued a ticket and two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Megabus spokesman Mike Alvich said the driver has been placed out of service until an investigation is completed.
The company "apologizes for any inconvenience to all affected by the delays" near the bus terminal, Alvich said in a statement.
The passengers and their luggage were transported to the intended final stop at 28th Street and Seventh Avenue, Megabus said.
Commuters tweeted about the crash that caused the jams.
"Entire port authority bus lane is shut down because a megabus was too tall for the overpass and is now stuck under it," tweeted Liz O'Connor.
