Man Guilty in Meat Cleaver Killing of NYC Therapist

A schizophrenic who killed a New York City psychotherapist in a meat cleaver attack he said he was too sick to know was wrong has been convicted of murder.

Jurors delivered their verdict Friday in David Tarloff's trial. It was prosecutors' third attempt at convicting him in a case delayed for years by questions about his mental health.

Tarloff never disputed killing psychologist Kathryn Faughey in February 2008. His defense argues he shouldn't be held criminally accountable.

But the Manhattan district attorney's office says Tarloff knew what he was doing in attacking Faughey after she confronted him in her Upper East Side office. Tarloff had gone there aiming to rob her officemate.

Tarloff's attorney says he's disappointed with the decision and will appeal it.
