Marine Proposes to Girlfriend on Broadway Stage

The romantic musical comedy "Anything Goes" set the stage for a U.S. Marine to become a big hit on Broadway Saturday.

After a performance of the musical at the Sondheim Theatre, Marine Capt. Zubah Koweh and his girlfriend, U.S. Navy Ensign Amy Sullivan, were invited onstage for what everyone thought was a Memorial Day salute to service members.

But then came the plot twist.

With microphone in hand, Koweh turned to Sullivan and said, "I've realized one thing, and that is that I would like to spend the rest of my life with you."

He then got down on one knee and, grinning, pulled a ring box from his sock and opened it to present the ring to his girlfriend.

The cast and the audience erupted in cheers and applause as Ensign Sullivan said "yes."

The couple met on a ship, so the Broadway show about an on-ship romance was a fitting place for the proposal.
