    A Manhattan woman averted an attempted rape by throwing a cup of coffee in her attacker's face Thursday morning, and after searching for the culprit, police announced they apprehended a suspect.

    The attack happened around 9:50 a.m. Thursday in Inwood. Police say the man followed the 51-year-old victim into her building's entry and pushed her into a hallway, ordering her to do as he said.

    But when he tried to pull her pants down, cops say, she wheeled around and threw a cup of coffee in his face before screaming for help. He immediately fled from the building and ran northbound.

    After actively searching for the suspect in the assault, police announced 38-year-old Victor Cueto was arrested and charged with attempted rape, burglary and sexual abuse in connection to the morning assault.
