Woman Hears Shots in Manhattan, Realizes She was Hit After Running Away: NYPD

A woman who heard gunfire early Tuesday in Manhattan realized that she had been shot after running for safety, police say.

The 21-year-old was waiting for her boyfriend at West 28th Street and Seventh Avenue in the Flatiron District at about 2:15 a.m. when two men arguing nearby began shooting at one another.

Police say she ran for cover when she heard the gunfire, ducking into the NoMad Hotel at Broadway and West 28th Street.

After she was safely inside, police say she realized her leg was grazed by a bullet.

She was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she is in stable condition.

Police say are looking for a black SUV with New York plate No. GGF-5449 in connection to the shooting.
