A man died after being hit by a van and a tractor trailer while jaywalking in Manhattan Friday afternoon, police said.
Officials said Cheikh Mbaye, 23, was crossing Canal Street in the middle of the block at around 2:30 p.m. when a van hit him, causing him to be thrown into the middle lane, where a tractor trailer hit him.
Mbaye was pronounced dead after being taken to Presbyterian Hospital, authorities said.
Police said the drivers of both the van and tractor trailer remained on the scene.
