FDNY: 1 Critically Injured in Manhattan Apartment Fire

Authorities say a Christmas Eve fire at a Manhattan apartment has caused life-threatening injuries to one victim.

The blaze broke out about 7:15 p.m. Monday in the fifth floor of a six-story residential building in Hudson Heights.

About 60 firefighters responded to the scene at 183rd Street near St. Nicholas Avenue. It took about an hour to bring the fire under control in the apartment.

One person was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest and remains in critical condition. Two other people had minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
