Man Gunned Down in Second Deadly NYC Bodega Shooting in 2 Days: Police

A man was gunned down inside a bodega Thursday night, the second deadly shooting inside a New York City bodega in two days, police say.

The NYPD said the 49-year-old man was shot in the head around 8:30 p.m. by the gunman who followed him into La Paloma bodega on Lexington Avenue in East Harlem. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators say the gunman fled the store after firing the fatal shot.

It wasn’t clear why the man was shot and killed. Police said it didn’t appear the victim and suspect said anything to each other before the shots rang out.

An 80-year-old bodega worker was shot and killed inside his own store in Brooklyn, police say. Checkey Beckford reports.

The victim's identity has not been released.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. No description of a suspect was given.

The shooting is the second deadly encounter inside a New York City bodega in as many days. On Tuesday, an 80-year-old was shot and killed inside his own store in East New York. A 40-year-old man has been charged in that shooting.
