A man who police say tried to rape an 8-year-old girl as she was walking into her apartment building in the Bronx last weekend has been arrested.
Justin Ramirez, 21, is accused of approaching the girl from behind as she was walking into her building at about 5:30 p.m.on Oct. 24, covering her mouth and restraining her while putting his hand down her pants, the NYPD said.
The girl began to scream, prompting the suspect to run away.
The girl was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated and released.
Ramirez is charged with forcible compulsion, sexual contact with a child under 11, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual contacti with a child under 14.
It wasn't known if he had an attorney.
