The suspect allegedly told the woman he was about to hit her

Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man accused to knocking a woman unconscious last week at a Lower Manhattan subway station.

Investigators on Sunday released images of the suspect taken with surveillance cameras.

The man is accused of approaching a 26-year-old woman on the southbound Bowling Green subway platform on Tuesday and punching her in the face after telling her he was about to hit her, police said.

The victim fell unconscious to the ground. She was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital for treatment of a cut lip and facial bruising, police said.

Her attacker walked away.
