Police are looking for a man they say tried to rape a woman outside the door to her Manhattan apartment on Saturday.
The suspect followed the 33-year-old woman onto the elevator of her building on West 172nd Street in Washington Heights around 1 a.m., the NYPD said.
When she got off on her floor, the suspect kept following her. As she started to open the door to her apartment, police say the suspect tried to rape her.
The woman was able to fight him off, get into her apartment and lock the door. She was uninjured in the attack.
The suspect then fled the building.
Police released surveillance video of the suspect (above). Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
