Man Follows Woman Into Williamsburg Apartment Building, Tries to Rape Her: NYPD

"What happened to my sister -- right now she's traumatized," said the victim's sister

Police are searching for a man they say followed a woman into her Brooklyn apartment building after she dropped her son off at school and tried to rape her Tuesday morning.

The suspect allegedly followed the 37-year-old victim to her building near Driggs Avenue and South 8th Street in Williamsburg at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, police say.

He rang the buzzer, the victim's sister told NBC 4 New York, then attacked when she let him inside. Authorities allege that he pulled her pants and underwear down but left when the victim yelled for help and fought him off.

He then ran away south on Driggs Avenue, authorities said.

The woman's sister, who didn't want to be identified to protect the victim's identity, told NBC 4 New York that her sibling was attacked minutes after dropping her son off at school. She added that her sister has been receiving strange text messages over the last week.

"What happened to my sister -- right now she's traumatized," she said.

The suspect is described as about 22 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches and 150 to 170 pounds.

He was carrying a black umbrella and last seen wearing a green hooded sweater, light colored pants and black sneakers.
