Man Swipes Thousands of Dollars Worth of Jewelry in Queens Crime Spree: Police

A man has stolen nearly $50,000 in jewelry and other accessories in a weeks-long crime spree in Queens, cops say.

Police say they have linked the man to at least five different home burglaries in Richmond Hill and Kew Gardens since last month.

The spree was first reported May 18 when the man broke into a Kew Gardens home at 6 a.m. and stole jewelry, officials said. It wasn’t immediately clear how much the jewelry that was stolen was worth.

About a week and a half later on May 29, the suspect made his way into an apartment and took $40,000 in jewelry from the home, authorities said.

The man then robbed three other homes on June 5, stealing around $7,000 more in jewelry, along with sunglasses and a watch, police said.

Authorities released surveillance footage of the man who they say is around 30 years old in the hopes of catching him before he strikes again.
