Man Slain at Housing Complex Probably not Intended Target: Prosecutor

A man was gunned down outside a low-income housing complex in New Jersey and authorities said Thursday the victim probably wasn't the intended target.

Police in Plainfield responded to a report of gunfire at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday outside the Liberty Village complex on West Fourth Street.

When officers arrived, they spotted a victim of the shooting who was later identified as 37-year-old Willie Lee Major, said acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park.

"It appears at this time that Major was not the intended target of the shooting," she said, though she didn't elaborate.

The Union County Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
