A man was shot in the East Village and has been transported to the hospital in critical condition, police say.
Officers responded to the area of East 8th Street and Avenue D after 4:15 p.m. for a call of a man shot.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition.
Police were searching for the shooter.
