Man Shot Dead in Newark, 4th in Four Days

A day after three were killed in separate shootings across New Jersey's largest city, another man was killed Sunday.

Det. Josephine Santaniello says the man was shot around 4 p.m. in the city's North Ward. Police did not identify the man.

The Star-Ledger of Newark reports that police were seen counting shell casings near a convenience store as a white sedan sat parked nearby with shattered windows, bullet holes and blood splatter.

On Saturday, three people were killed in separate shootings in the city's North, Central and South wards; three others were wounded.

Those shootings follow another one on Thursday night, when an off-duty Newark police officer getting a slice of pizza at a neighborhood fast-food restaurant was shot dead and two others were injured. A 19-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection to that case.
