Customer Who Tried to Intervene Shot, Killed in Brooklyn Deli Robbery: Police

A 32-year-old man who tried to intervene in the armed robbery of a Brooklyn deli he was shopping in last week was shot and killed, police say.

Damon Francis was in the Remsen Avenue grocery shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when two suspects, both wearing hooded sweatshirts, walked in, authorities said.

One of the suspects had a gun and walked up to the counter. Francis tried to intercede and diffuse the situation and the armed suspect shot him in the chest, killing him, according to police.

Both suspects then fled with cash.

Authorities continue to look for the suspects.
