Long Island Man Critical After Shooting Outside Bar

Police are investigating the shooting that left the man in critical condition

A man was shot in the torso during an altercation outside a bar in Patchogue at about 2 a.m. Thursday, police say.

The 30-year-old man, identified as Maurice James of Central Islip, was involved in a dispute with several other people outside Attitudes Bar and Grill on Waverly Avenue when he was shot, police said.

James was transported in a private vehicle to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. He's listed in critical condition, police said.
