Man Outside Vehicle on I-78 Struck by 2 Cars, Killed: NJ Police

A man outside of a vehicle on Interstate 78 in Newark was struck by two cars and killed, New Jersey state police say.

Dominick Denegri, 29, of Boonton was outside the vehicle on the westbound shoulder near exit 55 when he was hit at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Trooper Charles Marchan said.

Marchan said "the cars fled right after the accident" and the drivers are being sought.

He said there were people in the parked vehicle, but it wasn't immediately clear whether the vehicle belonged to Denegri or why they were parked.
