Man in Apparent Murder-Suicide at JFK Hilton Garden Inn Had Tie to Hated Florida Company

Brian Weiss was meeting with five other men in the lobby Thursday when one of them stood up and shot him five times

A man murdered during a business meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn near John F. Kennedy Airport was a top official in a Florida dietary supplement company that has been the target of thousands of consumer complaints.

Brian Weiss was meeting with five other men in the lobby Thursday when one of them stood up and shot him five times. The shooter, Gary Zalevsky, then killed himself.

The New York Times reports that Weiss was an officer at FWM Laboratories, a company once ordered by Florida's attorney general to return $34 million it had billed people for unwanted health supplements.

The Better Business Bureau recorded more than 4,000 complaints against the company in 2009 alone.

Police were still investigating why Zalevsky opened fire.
