An overnight fire overtook several small buildings on Long Island and killed a 51-year-old man, authorities said.
The blaze on Route 25 in Mattituck began in an apartment where the victim was later discovered, Southold Town police said. The flames spread shortly after midnight Saturday morning and destroyed at least four small businesses.
Authorities are investigating.
